Year 1 2019 - 2020

Mrs Hardy

Mrs Holmes

Welcome to Year 1 smiley

We hope both you and your families are all safe and well and are following the Government Guidance to help keep yourselves and others safe around you.

We want you to know we are missing you all very much.  We wish there was a way to be in touch and see what you are getting up to whilst you're at home.....for now we will continue to update our class page weekly.  We send our love and best wishes to everyone at this difficult time.

Please try to have a restful Easter holiday together - enjoy the weather where possible, play together, bake, or learn a new skill and most importantly have lots of fun!

Take care and look after yourself and those around you.

Happy Easter to you all....

Songs to support learning at home:

The Big Number Song – this gives the children the opportunity to practise counting to 100 and beyond….

Count 10-100 - Couting in 10's forwards and backwards is a Year One target for the end of the year....

Left and Right Robot - We love dancing along to this one!  Left and Right Song

The Alphabet Song - practice saying the letter names in today's song.  Can you also write them in the correct order?  Can you write each letter as they are said in the song?'ll have to be quick!

The Seasons Song - (we replace 'Fall' with Autumn)  Children in Year One need to know about Seasonal changes- if you are able to get out and about this weekend look for signs of Spring.

Today's Challenge

A little note for parents...
This Easter holiday to help look after my own wellbeing I am setting myself a daily challenge - one thing I want to achieve in the day - this might be to do the pile of the ironing (that keeps growing!), wash the children's bedding or do a bit of weeding in the garden.  I am finding if I do this it gives me motivation for the day and makes me feel a sense of matter how small the job!

 Home Learning Opportunities

Please remember, where possible, learning should be fun and enjoyable and can happen in lots of different multisensory keywords using lego; act out a story using soft toys; play bingo; hunt for hidden letters around the home....learning is possible anywhere!

Useful websites for additional opportunities at home:

Children love to use ICT and aren't always aware they are learning when using a tablet or phone.  We have compiled a list of a few favourite websites we enjoy using in Year One that your child may find engaging at home.

English: These are really useful to give them a little bit of extra practise in a fun and engaging way.....

****Newly added to the page****

Cbeebies Storytime - FREE App - A great online Library.

Cbeebies Storytime App - an online library linked to favourite Cbeebies shows.

Teach Your Monster to Read - A FREE App - you would normally pay for this but it is currently free and is a great way to practise phonics skills.

Maths:  Children are securing their number bonds up to 10 (6+4, 8+2 etc)  We are also reading and recording addition and subtraction calculations within 20.

Websites to support Physical Activity and Wellbeing:

Cosmic Yoga: This is a website the children are used to using in the classroom - we like some calm and quiet time at the end of a busy morning!

PE with Joe Wicks: Monday to Friday at 9am - a great way to start the day!

Keep an eye open for more updates daily....
