Year 3 2018 - 2019

Miss Garner

Welcome to Year 3

This year feels like it's flying by, only one term left in Year 3!

A reminder I do expect all children in full uniform, we understand that there are certain circumstances that may stop this, however, if a child comes into school wearing trainers they will be asked to wear their pumps in school until new school shoes can be provided.

Throughout Summer term we will be getting our Geographer hats out to look at the topics, Somewhere to Settle and What's it like in Liverpool? We will be looking at land use, resources, human/physical features and using/creating maps.

Reading Partnership will be sent home weekly on your child's designated day, you will have at least two days to complete this but all MUST be back by the following Monday for the next Reading Partnership session.

See Reading Partnership general timetable below - we will aim to stick to this timetable, however, on busy weeks or in the event of unforeseen circumstances then your child's day may be altered (under these circumstances I'm not expecting homework back on the usual day, but rather the following Monday for a fresh week.)

Group Date to be returned
Diamonds Wednesday
Rubies Wednesday
Opals Thursday
Garnets Thursday
Emerald Friday
Sapphires Friday

If anyone is struggling with their homework or has been unable to do their homework that week, they can go to homework club on a Monday or a Friday lunchtime.

There will also be Spelling and Maths/Literacy homework sent home once a week on a Monday to be returned on Friday. The class should also be reading every night at home and recorded in your reading record - I will be checking this on a Monday, Wednesday and a Friday with either a purple (read) or green (not read) signature.

Our P.E. days are every Thursday and every other Wednesday, the children will need to bring in sensible shoes, a white t-shirt and black shorts or jogging bottoms.

Starting in Summer 1, Y3 will have Miss Livsey teaching Music/PE and RE on a Wednesday afternoon replacing Mr Drake as he takes over Y4.

As always, if you have any questions or could help with our learning please don't hesitate to contact one of the Year 3 team. We find this easier after school as we have more time to chat but, please, if there is anything you need urgently we are happy to talk before!

Miss Garner, Mrs Phelan and Miss Hutch.
