Welcome to Year 3
It's sad that we can't be in school together for the next 2 weeks but....
5/10/20 Home Learning - daily lessons at 9am (Register and English) and 11am (Maths)

As a school, we have class dojo! On our school story, there are daily stories from staff and our pupils, activities and notices 
We are easily contactable if you need any support.

I highly recommend these websites, many members of Year 3 have already started using it and have loved it!
Another great site/app is Sum Dog which can be found here - the school code is stmatthews35599. Passwords and Usernames have been sent out if you did not receive one please contact the school.
Sum Dog is updated regularly by me with new tasks, for maths, spelling and grammar.
All of the recommended online maths activities can be accessed on the computer or through a free app compatible with all devices! The icons are shown in the image below if you need support finding the right one.

Literacy
We have a class code for EPIC which is an online library full of different types of books, comics and videos to explore and help with your learning. I have assigned you all books but please have a browse and read what interests YOU! It's important that we continue to read as much as possible

If you know your child could use some more phonics support sign up for 'teach your monster to read' - you do have to register but the online version is free (you have to pay for the app)
You can explore stories written by other children in the BBC's 500 words competition to support and inspire your own writing here
Science
Watch some of the animals in Edinburgh Zoo and write about them in your home learning book. Maybe make a fact file for each animal. Here
Look at Whizz Pop Bang to find free resources, from science-related reading comprehensions to activities to try
Investigate at home together using Explorify, they will be providing weekly activities that you can try and explore at home - click here for the latest task.
Use the food a fact of life website to explore where food comes from and yummy recipes here

Try Cosmic Kids Yoga for some exercise or you could try the Zen Den for some mindfulness - Here
The Body Coach TV - If you are struggling to be inside for a long period of time and need some inspiration to stay active you can follow Joe Wick's workouts on YouTube, he will also be providing daily 30mins live PE lessons 9.00 am to 9.30 am as well as lots of other videos for kids to try.
