Living like an astronaut

Lesson: Science

Class: Year 5 Year: 2016 - 2017

We have been working hard learning about Space over the last half term. During our topic, lots of us asked questions about astronauts and the International Space Station. One of the things we wanted to know was:

What do astronauts eat and drink? (Don't read on if you are squeamish)

1. They eat dried food (we are trying it in the photos)

2. They drink there own recycled urine! (Ew!) We know this is true because Dr Chilvers tweeted astronauts Chris Hadfield and Tim and Chris Hadfield replied - he assured us it tastes of actual water though! 

We carried out an experiment using gummy bears to show this (see the gummy bear pictures)

Now we are excited about our next unit of Science - Materials and their Properties.
